The foundation supported the “SHOWABKHAZIA” festival in Sukhum
The First International Festival of the National Culture of Abkhazia and Russia brought together 600 performers from the two countries — with the support of the “Wings of Dream” foundation and the company “Kovalev & Partners”. The foundation was represented at the festival by the singer Valeria Chaika, a member of the Board of Trustees, and by the Chair of the Foundation, Vladimir Kovalev.
Sukhum hosted the First International Festival of the National Culture of Abkhazia and Russia, “SHOWABKHAZIA”. Two days, the square by the Abkhazian Drama Theatre, 600 performers from the two countries. The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Russia’s Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The festival was held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Administration of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia. The project was also supported by the “Wings of Dream” charitable foundation and the company “Kovalev & Partners”.
The driving spirit behind the project, Alexander Shoua, was born in this land and made the festival a tribute to his homeland. Russian pop performers shared the stage with young voices from Abkhazia — winners of the selection held by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. It is for such meetings of generations and cultures that projects like this are undertaken.
Special thanks go to the team of organisers. From the outside, a festival is a stage, lights and performers. In reality it is months of preparation, hundreds of problems solved and dozens of people behind the scenes, thanks to whom everything happens on time and beautifully.
The “Wings of Dream” foundation was represented at the festival by a member of its Board of Trustees, the singer and voice teacher Valeria Chaika (Valeria Andreyevna Kovaleva), and by the Chair of the Foundation, Vladimir Kovalev.
Projects like this are needed. They bring people together and make cultural ties something living rather than merely declared.
